The city of San Dimas is located in the San Gabriel Valley, not too far from Pomona area, and according to the census completed in 2020, the city’s population was 34,934. San Dimas Canyon is located in the San Gabriel Mountains to the north of the city of San Dimas in modern-day San Gabriel, and it is from this canyon that the city earned its name.
Walnut is located to the south and west of San Dimas, while the San Gabriel Mountains are to the north of the city. To the west of San Dimas are the communities of Glendora and Covina. To the north and east of the city are La Verne and Pomona. Both the 25th Senate District, which San Dimas is a part of, and the 41st Assembly District, which San Dimas is a part of, are held by Democrats. Chris Holden is San Dimas’ representative in the 41st Assembly District.
The majority of the population that is included in the Bonita Unified School District receives their education at San Dimas High School. South Hills High School is located in the Via Verde neighbourhood, which is located south of Puente Avenue and along San Dimas Avenue. South Hills High School is a part of the Covina-Valley Unified School District. The Charter Oak Unified School District serves a relatively small number of children who have chosen to enroll in its schools. Life Pacific College is an educational establishment that offers a full curriculum and has affiliations to the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. The college can be found in the middle of the city.
In the event that the Metro L Line is ever extended from the point where it currently terminates in Azusa to the city of Montclair in San Bernardino County, there will be a station in the heart of San Dimas. Before the station can finally welcome customers, there is going to be a significant amount of time spent waiting (2026). When it is finished, the rail line will connect with the previously existing Blue Route via the new Regional Connector in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. In accordance with Metro’s new naming procedure, the rail line will be referred to as the A Line.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has a station in the city of San Dimas known as the San Dimas Station. This station is responsible for providing law enforcement services in the community. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is in charge of providing fire protection for the city of San Dimas. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is in charge of ensuring the city of San Dimas’s fire safety.
